On the occasion of the 2015 Open Day at the Parc Recerca Biomèdica Barcelona (PRBB), the co-coordinator of MycoSynVac will contribute to the Science Café event at 7:00 p.m.: Maria Lluch (CRG) will join the discussion on design of synthetic bacteria to produce vaccines.
The Science Café will focus on the topical fields of designing and developing new vaccines, reducing side effects and adverse reactions, improving vaccine administration, achieving the highest possible rate of population vaccination. It is supposed to explain better the benefits of vaccines and disassociating vaccination schedules from the interests of pharmaceutical industry. Here, the combination of scientific research and clinical practice will be the secret of success. During the event, three experts will talk about these issues from different points of view:
- Maria Lluch, CRG researcher and co-coordinator of the European project MycoSynVac will discuss the design of synthetic bacteria to produce vaccines.
- Alex Olvera, IrsiCaixa researcher, the Institute for AIDS Research, University Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, Badalona.
- Oscar Garcia Algar, pediatrician at the Hospital del Mar and President of the Ethics Committee for Clinical Research (CEIC – PSMAR) will discuss the clinical reality and the best practices in vaccination.
- Moderator: Milagros Perez Oliva, journalist from El País.
The public is cordially invited to participate, to ask and to provide feedback. No previous registration is required. The discussion language will be catalan.
